Reglazed Surfaces Warranty
Black and White Refinishing LLC offers its customers a 3 years for rental properties and 5 years for residential homeowners limited warranty on reglazing services. This warranty covers bubbling, blistering, warping, and peeling (if this happens, it’ll be easy to recognize within the first few months) due to workmanship or product defects, during normal residential use.
Essentially our warranty covers primer and finishing coat adhesion failure.
Any warranty is for the property owner and/or the purchaser of our services and begins from the time the work is completed.
We have a 1-year limited warranty on the following:
· Repairs below the water level line on fiberglass bathtubs.
· Extensive repairs on fiberglass bathtubs and showers that include reinforcing the support underneath.
For caulking, the warranty is for 1 year.
The following items are not covered under this warranty:
· Kitchen sinks and laundry sinks are not covered due to extreme wear and tear in their normal use.
· Rust repair is not covered as rust is known to reappear eventually, though rust repair will keep it away for a long time.
· Any scratching, deterioration of the glossy finish, or staining over time due to: normal wear and tear, incorrect cleaning practices, or water conditions.
Black and White Refinishing LLC will not be liable for:
· Any paint peeling-off surrounding walls. To do our work we must use masking tape to protect your furniture and belongings. Paint peeling off the walls is not caused by the tape coming off. It is because painters did not prepare the walls correctly before painting (sanding and using primer) or the paint has not cured yet. It is safest to wait 48 hours after painting before having us come to do work.
· Damage or flaws created by owners or any third party (such as tenants, pets, other work crews, etc.).
· Damage caused by objects placed on the refinished surface such as suction-cup bathmats, bath pillows, soap dishes, or any similar item used on or in area. Note: We do offer a slip-resistant surface on tubs and showers. If slipping is an issue you may want to consider this option.
· Damage caused by the use of any product that is not specifically designed for acrylic surfaces. This may include but is not limited to: Comet, Ajax, Soft Scrub, Ammonia, Hypochlorite (raw bleach), or any other abrasive cleaners, acids, toilet bowl cleaners, etc.
· Damage caused by the use of abrasives such as scouring pads and scouring sponges, steel wool, sandpaper, or any other gritty object or cleaner.
· Damage caused by the reglazed surface being touched or exposed to water within 24 hours following the completion of the refinishing process. Example: Damage caused by leaking faucets or water backing up from the drain.
· Damage caused by the use of tools, ladders, or other objects placed on, dropped on, or knocked against the reglazed surface.
· Bubbling or peeling due to chipping created by objects or materials placed on the reglazed surface.
· Bubbling or peeling due to moisture trapped in the area or from unrepaired leaks.
· Black and White Refinishing LLC is not liable for dust particles, flies, or other insects that might fall onto the freshly reglazed surface while it is still drying. Most particles caught in the drying topcoat will be removed naturally with normal cleaning. Damage caused by «picking» at the spot will not be covered.
* Limited Warranty – The durability of a refinished surface depends mostly on the proper care and maintenance the user gives to the fixture. This is true for both brand new or refinished surfaces.

For Better Results on your Reglazing or Refinishing
Please read and follow the instructions and tips we provide below:
Here are some important guidelines and points to follow before, during, and after our reglazing service is done.
Even though surfaces differ one from another, these steps will ensure any refinishing done on your sink, bathtub, or other fixtures will retain its shine for years.
Before Reglazing is Done
· Remove all loose items from the room like rugs, toiletries, wall decorations, curtains, etc.
Partial or complete clogged sewage pipes must be fixed first. If the water backs up and comes out of the drain it can ruin the fresh reglazing coat off during or after the job is done.
Please make sure there are no leaks on the surface to be refinished. If there are, please get them repaired before the scheduled refinishing service. Water leaks may ruin the freshly reglazed surface.
In order to reduce the chance of anything landing in the fresh coat of glaze, clean the surrounding area and ceilings one or two days before our arrival, not on the day of the job, nor during the first 24-hours of the new reglazing curing time. Also, avoid doing extensive work in adjacent areas that produce dust particles which later may fall into the tub while the new finish is drying.
Please consider that foreign objects or dust that lands on the refinished surface after the job has been completed are not covered within our warranty.
During the Reglazing Service
· We suggest not scheduling other types of repair works for the day of the reglazing service. The cutting of wood, the handling of mosaic, carpet, or general cleaning can produce lint that could be trapped within the layers of the glaze. This will create bumps or scratchy areas on the surface of the tub and cause discomfort when making contact with the skin while bathing.
We must mask bathroom walls and furniture to prevent overspray. Sometimes the paint under the masking tape peels off. Wall peeling is not caused by the tape itself, but because the wall was not thoroughly prepared before painting. Also, the bathroom can retain moisture which weakens the adhesion of the paint to the wall. Therefore, we advise you to make sure that before painting, the wall is sanded, primed, and good quality paint be used.

Once the Refinishing Service is Done
· IT IS MOST IMPORTANT THE REGLAZE BE ALLOWED 24 HOURS TO CURE.
Do not set or leave anything (wet towels, soap, bottles, etc.) on the reglazed surface (including water) during the first for 48 hours as it may soften the glaze. A full cure takes about 6 days so it is best not to leave any shampoo bottles or other items on the tub reglazing for at least 6 days.
We cannot prevent dust from settling onto the newly refinished surface, as we are not working in a 100% dust-free environment. Sometimes dust, fluff, lint, or even small bugs (flies, butterflies, etc.) might get stuck on the freshly refinished surface. DO NOT PICK OR TRY TO REMOVE PARTICLES AS THIS MAY DAMAGE THE SURFACE. Most times the lint or fluff can disappear during the first 2-3 weeks when the tub is washed.
Caring for a newly refinished surface is similar to taking care of brand new surfaces. Everything that damages a brand new fixture can damage a newly refinished fixture as well.
One of the advantages of having your bathtub reglazed is that the new non-porous surface is easier to clean. Regular cleaning is important to prevent dirt, hard water stains, and soap scum build-up that will hide the beauty of the refinishing. To clean, use non-scratch scrub sponges with warm water, liquid detergents, or non-abrasive bathroom liquid cleaners.
Here are some commercial products that will clean the refinished fixture without dulling the finish: Stay Clean sponges by Scotch Brite, Dow Scrubbing Bubbles, Lysol Tub, and Tile Cleaner, 409, Lime Away Bathroom/Kitchen Cleaner, Mr. Clean, diluted white vinegar and all-purpose liquid dish soaps such as Joy, Ivory, or Dawn.
Do NOT use abrasive cleaners such as scouring pads, baking soda, Ajax, Comet, BonAmi, etc. These act like sandpaper and will dull and erode the finish. There is a saying: “If you wouldn’t use it on your brand new car, don’t use it on the tub!»
